For some 4x4 enthusiast they have a few criteria on which to choose either diesel or petrol engine. Petrol engine capable to generate more acceleration thus more powerful and more fuel consumption as compare with diesel engine. There are advantages and disadvantages of these two engine and as for me, I would prefer a diesel engine.
Diesel Engine- Diesel engine was designed for heavy load capacity and long journey as it able to endure high engine compression ratio i.e 20:1
- Able to produce good engine breaking especially when descending hill's slope
- Non-complex maintenance, just pay attention on your engine oil and timing
- Longer life expectancy if properly maintained (350,000 km for overhaul)
- Diesel is cheaper and able to generate more mileage
- For long journey expedition, diesel engine is more suitable
- Diesel engine be able to supply more tork with low r.p.m especially in challenging off road situation
- Inflammable
- Non friendly to environment
- Normally able to produce 25% more power compare with diesel
- Less torque but more acceleration
- Complex maintenance but easy to find an expert mechanic
- High consumption on fuel

saya dlm process mencari sebuah pajero LO47/LO49. Dlm dilemma antar diesel atau petrol. Boleh beri cadangan termasuk harga? Adakah model2 ni sesuai untuk long term journey selain offroad. Sesuai untuk kegunaan keluarga? Sesuai untuk main car?
